BCAPA Reports Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Berenson-Eggers Type of Service (BETOS) clinical categories? This includes information on evaluation and management, tests, imaging, procedures, durable medical equipment, other and exception services rendered by clinicians or other Part B providers.

Are the results risk adjusted? No, not at this time. This is an enhancement we are considering for future iterations.

Is there a BCAPA report for NextGen ACOs? CMS does not make information available on NextGen final attribution or National Provider Identifier (NPI) lists so that we are unable to identify NextGen beneficiaries in our data. We are able to create a BCAPA report for a fee if you share your NPI lists with us and we can create custom reports based on your specifications. If you are interested please contact us at (data@naacos.com).

What is the claims run out for quarterly data? CMS makes the quarterly data available with four months of run out. At this time, we are not applying any type of claims run out adjustment factor. This means that some services are not included in these quarterly per member per month (PMPM) expenditure and utilization measures.

My ACO only has zeros in the data field. Why is that? If your ACO joined the MSSP on July 1, 2019, or if it ACO re-joined with a new ACO number, CMS did not identify your providers or beneficiaries in the Q3 and Q4 files available to researchers. We expect this will be resolved when we receive the first quarter of 2020 data. For ACOs that changed their name and number on July 1, 2019, we are able to display data using your old ACO credentials. Contact us at data@naacos.com if you need help with this.
