NAACOS Statement on House Energy and Commerce Committee Markup
Attributed to Clif Gaus, Sc.D., President and CEO of the National Association of ACOs

NAACOS continues to be pleased a short-term extension of Medicare’s value-based care incentives remains under consideration by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which advanced legislation on the issue yesterday. This is the last year clinicians are able to qualify for incentives. Congress must act now to ensure clinicians do not lose access to critical funds to invest in services such as 24/7 call lines and improved access to care, additional staff and care coordinators, and other patient benefits. We’re encouraged lawmakers recognize the important role these incentives play in improving our health care system and providing better patient care at lower costs.

NAACOS thanks Reps. Kim Schrier (D-WA), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Larry Bucshon (R-IN), Robin Kelly (D-IL) and Neal Dunn (R-FL) for their leadership and continues to work with lawmakers in both the House and Senate to find the best policy that will incentivize the movement to value-based care in both the short and long-term.
