NAACOS Pre-conference workshops are held concurrently on Tuesday, April 22 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm ET.  These workshops require separate registration from the main meeting.  There will be three concurrent workshops for the Spring 2025 Conference.

Topic #1: From Data to Point-of-Care Decisions: Crafting a Scalable Data & Analytics Infrastructure that delivers actionable insights to the point-of-care
Chair: Anna Taylor, MultiCare Connected Care

Discover cutting-edge data and analytics techniques to drive decision-making, improve care coordination, and achieve unparalleled efficiency. Learn from industry leaders and engineers who will share insights on transforming your data into point-of-care insights. Gain practical knowledge on implementing scalable solutions that ensure your data and analytics lead your ACO to new heights of success!

Learning Objectives:

  • Master Enterprise Data and Analytics Governance: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the structures and best practices for effective data and analytics governance within an enterprise.
  • Navigate Standards in Data Acquisition and Reporting: Learn about how recent CMS rulings are improving ACOs capability to acquire data and move it to the point of care (e.g. CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule, VA Interoperability Pledge).
  • Integrate and Deliver Population Health Insights: Discover how ACOs effectively integrate and deliver population health insights to their network EHRs, improving care coordination and outcomes.

Create: Participants will develop a high-level roadmap to deliver insights to the point-of-care using process mapping principles. Attendees should bring a use case to document how they will move, aggregate, and display data to the point of care (e.g., quality gaps to annual wellness visit worklist, ACO chart identifier to ED registration).

Topic #2: Driving Innovation in Value-Based Relationships through Specialty Care Engagement
Chair: Diwen Chen, NAACOS

A substantial portion of the health care budget is attributed to and driven by specialty care; however, inclusion of specialists in accountable care models across payers is varied. For example, an Institute for Accountable Care survey found that only 38% of ACOs engage specialists in quality improvement, noting that lack of data and incentives prohibit deeper engagement. As the goal of Value-Based Care (VBC) is to coordinate and integrate care across the full continuum of care, VBC providers and entities are exploring ways to more deeply engage specialists in accountable care. This session will also bring together providers, payers, and health care purchasers to explore approaches that engage specialists in accountable care, identifying operational and policy challenges – and solutions – for advancing specialty-specific models and involving specialists within total cost of care models.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define pathways for driving adoption and implementation of accountable care in specialty care.
  • Understand market trends, challenges, and opportunities to engage specialists in value-based arrangements.
  • Learn from industry experts on approaches for implementing various specialty care models, including performance incentives/P4P, episode-based payments, and specialty sub-capitation models.
  • Understand payer and purchaser priorities and approaches for driving innovation in specialty care and network optimization.

Topic #3: Balancing the Quality Tightrope
Chair: Heidi Bossley

ACOs providers in VBC must balance competing demands on quality reporting across CMS programs, CMMI models, and health plan contract requirements with internal priorities and objectives. This session will provide perspectives on how to manage these expectations while also enhancing overall healthcare delivery and driving improvements in outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate how balancing reporting requirements with patient care priorities can enhance overall healthcare delivery and drive improvements in patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
  • Explore effective strategies for managing and aligning competing demands on quality reporting to ensure compliance while prioritizing patient outcomes.
  • Learn how others leverage data analytics to drive improvement in prioritized outcomes, ensuring that reporting efforts contribute to tangible quality improvements for ACOs and their patients.
  • Examine how ACOs can design and implement patient-centered services and interventions, prioritizing care needs while still meeting program and contractual reporting obligations.
